Hazel's lecture!

(12/12/08) Today was Hazel's final lecture based on Creative Methodology. I will really miss the her lectures as each one has always been really interesting. The variation in teaching strategies such as the objects that she has brought in, her spoken teaching, the use of video clips, audience involvement and quizzes have meant that I have been absorbed into them and have found then intriguing and enjoyable. I particularly liked the way that she includes a bang within the lecture-each one being different, such as a spoken bang, a physical bang, how to create a bang using manipulative verbs.
During the last lecture we watched part of short t.v documentary on Petite Pierre. This work included small mechanical objects that he had designed and created-they were absolutely fascinating. He was a genius!! Many mechanical objects he had created had been attached together creating such a large scale piece of work. Each thing that he had made was delicate, intricate, complex and unique in its own way. The mechanical objects that I remember seeing were: a dog running, cows opening there mouths and eating, cars racing around, planes flying, bull chasing red cloth, hens pecking at seeds, wind mill during-it was like a carousel at a fair! Really amazing!

Below are the aims of the lectures that Hazel has given. I feel that I have lerant alot from Hazel's lectures but to better my understanding even more I need to go over the notes that I wrote during Hazel's lecture!

  1. Give a range of critical, cultural and historical reference points-help in own work.
  2. Improve general knowledge.
  3. Develop appropriate vocabulary.
