(29/01/09) This morning was our Half Year review. We were put into groups of 6-8 and we each had to give a presentation in front of two tutors about the work that we had done so far since we started our individual projects.
In preperation for this presentation I created a handout that contained a few images highlighting the work that I had done accompined by few words explaining what they were. I also created a handout based on the artists that I had looked at within my project and I gave both of these handouts to the tutors and students just before I started my presentation so they could have a look at what I was talking about.
I also typed what I was going to say during the presentation which I then summarised before creating cue cards that I could have to hand during the presentation. The cue cards contained the most important points in chronologically order of what I did first within the project which was also the order I would say each point within the presentaton. As well I included images on the cue cards relating to text so this would help remind me of what to say during the presentation incase I can't remember. I made sure that the cue cards were numbered in case they got mixed up it wouldn't take long to put them in the correct order again.
I had my sketchbook, servettes and the 3D frame on display as I was talking so that the tutors and students could see the actual objects that I was talking about.
I was very nervous before I was about to do the presentation however I just thought to think positively, relax, talk clearly and not too quick and with CONFIDENCE and it would be over in no time!! When I was talking I started to become abit more relaxed and I started to enjoy it more. I felt that doing the presentation wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Next time I need to try not to get so nervous before hand but that's easily said than done!
I will wait till my tutorial feedback next week to see what I can improve on within my project and what to do differently in preperation for when I next do a presentation.
It was really interesting to see the work that other students had completed. There was such a variation and that is what I like best about this course!!
After the presentations in pairs we were given an evaluation sheet and the name of a person who had done their presentation for us this morning. The sheet included the headings of research:experimental and study based and development:development and resolution. We had to write points underneath these headings on what we thought was good and what needed to be improved upon within the work they had completed so far within their projects.
We also had to fill in an evaluation from about our selves and to mark on a scale 10-100, with 100 being the best where we thought we were at for our experimental work, development, research and resolution. It will be interesting to compare where we think we are at compared to what the tutors think, during our feedback session next week!
