- (09/02/09) During this life Drawing session we started by doing eight 2 minute poses-each were of the model in slightly different positions. These were drawn relatively quickly so we could complete the out line of the body within the time given. This excercise was set to ease us in to drawing the next couple of hours.
- We then drew a sitting down pose of the model, we had 15 minutes to complete this drawing and I focused on making sure that within this time I could include the essential lines that represent the parts of the body and that they were all in proportion to one another. Within the time I managed to complete these lines but I din't have time to add the detail and tone.
- In pairs we had a go at drawing the model, with one of us holding the pencil at the end and one at the top we had to communicate to each other well so we knew all the time what part of the body we were looking at and then drawing.
- We then individually had to draw the same sitting down pose we had previously completed but we had slightly longer so this time I had more time to add some detail.
- After this we had an activity were we had to hold a pencil in our left hand and one in our right and draw the model with our right hand and our left at the same time producing two different drawings. It made you really concentrate but it was really interesting to see the outcome and how they differed from one another. The one drawn with my left hand was a lot more scribbly and the one with my left was more sketchy.
- We had the challenge next to drawn the model with the paper upon the easel facing the model and our backs to the model so we had to turn our necks alot the see-it encouraged us to look more at the model so we didn't have to turn as often-this then highlighted how the majority of the time should be spent looking at the model so there is more of a chance that it is drawn accurately.
- Finally we draw the sitting down pose that we had drawn twice already, this time we had 40 minutes to complete it so I could focus more on making sure that the proportions were accurate. I felt alot more confident during this lesson as I had done some studies during the week of people faces to make myself more familar and to get some pratice which I intend to carrying on doing. The life drawing class tutor even said that he had noticed an improvement since last week which is great even though I know I have a long way to go to being really good at it. I aim to carry on improving! Pratice makes perfect!!
