Before going to Glossop we designed a parachute or kite relating to Wittengsteins ambitions of building a flying machine! My friend and I made our own parachute out of a larger parachute that was torn and therefore not safe to use any nore. Together we taped 6 pieces of the material together to form a dome, we made a hole in the top and attached thick elastic string using buttons. My friend made a figure out of clay that contained a weight inside and a piece of wire at the top so that it could be attached to the parachute and form the weight.
While we were on the moors in Glossop we had a go at letting the wind fill the parachute at then letting it go and watching it glide then later on we through it in the air and as it was within the sky the wind filled it up and within the distance we could see it float to the ground, it looked fantastic. It was great to see all the kites that students from our course had made, they all worked really well within the wind.
We stayed for lunch in Glossop and we went to a pub were a few people from our year and within the 2nd yr of the Interactive Arts course did some entertainment-they are very talented! This ranged from a film clip, singing, playing on the guitar, monologue and an animation, they were all fantastic, overall a wonderful day out!!! :)
