Talk by Gary

(12/02/09) During this talk, Gary who is one of the Interactive Arts tutor's talked about the work that he has previously done aswell as what he has created more recently. The work that he has produced includes film, video and installations. One of his installations was a film that was present within a car, tracing paper was used to black out the windows of the car so that it was only until you went inside it that more was revealed. It was really interesting to see photographs of this installation and it would of been good to actually of been at the exhibition.

There are some points that I took away from the talk and they are as follows:
  • When creating work always document it, for example by film, photographs. These documentations of work will come in very useful especially if they are of an installation that isn't on display for long as you then have evidence that can be shown during a presentation or interview. Within the interview this archive of your work will be very beneficial in highlighting the skills and techniques that you have gained and could use within future projects based on what you have already done. These images will also act as a visual aid.
  • If you were to hold an exhibition of work you need to think about the following things: Marketing, Publicity, Press, Flyers, Location.
